Secure your preferred NAATI CCL test date without surprises. This walkthrough covers portal navigation, payment rules, and best practices for online versus in-person bookings.

Timeline Planning

Book 6–8 weeks ahead; monitoring NAATI release windows avoids waitlists.

Payment & Documentation

Prepare ID, credit card, and make sure your NAATI login details are current.

Test Centre Logistics

Choose from online or in-person centres; confirm time zones and equipment.

Step-by-Step Booking Instructions

  1. Create or update your NAATI account. Visit the NAATI candidate portal, ensure your personal details and primary language are correct, and enable multi-factor authentication.
  2. Check the session release schedule. NAATI typically releases new dates on Tuesdays at 11:00am AEST. Sessions fill quickly, so refresh the portal at release time.
  3. Select the test format. Choose “Credentialed Community Language (CCL)” then pick Online or In-Person. Online availability is broader; in-person slots exist in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
  4. Upload identification. A passport or Australian driver licence (front and back) is required during booking. Make sure scans are clear and under 5MB.
  5. Pay the fee. The exam currently costs AUD $800. Payment is by credit/debit card. Keep the receipt; it’s needed for any reschedule requests.
  6. Receive confirmation email. NAATI sends a calendar invite and instructions within minutes. If nothing arrives within an hour, check spam or contact NAATI support.

Fees, Reschedules & Refunds

  • Exam fee: AUD $800 (as of 2025). NAATI reviews fees annually; check the portal for updates before booking.
  • Reschedule policy: Free reschedules are allowed up to 5 business days before your test. Inside five days, NAATI charges AUD $110.
  • Cancellation: Cancelling more than 5 business days before the exam yields a 75% refund; within five days there is no refund.
  • Change of language: To switch languages you must cancel and rebook. NAATI does not edit bookings once payment is processed.

Online vs In-Person Considerations

Online sessions

Ideal for interstate and overseas applicants. Ensure a wired internet connection, headset microphone, and a private room with clear walls. NAATI conducts a room scan before the test starts.

In-person sessions

Available in major cities. Arrive 30 minutes early; bring physical ID and avoid bringing study material into the test room. Seating is limited, so book well in advance if you need a specific date.

Useful Prep Before Booking

  • Complete at least two mock exams to confirm you can sustain dialogue length.
  • Review the NAATI candidate rules to avoid bringing unapproved devices into the test.
  • Check our city guides for travel tips if you plan to sit in-person.
