1Create Your NAATI Account
Visit naati.com.au and create a free account. You'll need:
- Valid email address
- Full legal name (must match your ID exactly)
- Date of birth
- Contact phone number
Important: Your name must match your passport or ID exactly. Any discrepancy may prevent you from taking the test.
2Select Your Language
NAATI lists 55 languages for CCL (checked October 2026). Languages include:
Choose the language you're most fluent in, not the one you think is "easiest." The test assesses language quality, including register appropriate to the dialogue.
3Choose Your Test Date
Check available sessions in the booking portal. When selecting a date, consider:
- Allow enough preparation time for your starting skills
- Results take 4-6 weeks after the test
- Preferred sessions may not always be available - check early
4Upload ID Documents
You'll need valid government-issued photo ID. Commonly used documents are listed below; confirm NAATI's current accepted-ID list before booking:
- Passport (recommended for international candidates)
- Australian Driver's License
- ImmiCard (for Australian visa holders)
5Pay the Test Fee
NAATI lists the CCL test fee as AUD $814 (checked October 2026). Before paying:
- Check the payment methods offered in the booking portal
- Keep your payment receipt and booking confirmation
Changes and refunds: NAATI's CCL page states that you can reschedule at no cost up to 8 days before your test. Check NAATI's current cancellation, refund and rescheduling terms before booking.
Equipment Requirements for Online Test
Since NAATI CCL is conducted online, you'll need:
Hardware
- • Laptop or desktop computer
- • Webcam (built-in or external)
- • Microphone (built-in or external; no headset)
- • Speakers (NO headphones allowed)
- • Secondary device for proctoring (phone/tablet)
Environment
- • Private, quiet room
- • Internet of at least 10 Mbps download
- • Clear desk (pen and loose paper only; no prior notes)
- • Good lighting for webcam
- • No other people present
No Headphones: NAATI's candidate instructions do not allow headsets, headphones or earphones. Practise with your laptop speakers beforehand.
